not really resolutions

i think im going to use this year to do a few things ive always wanted to do..
instead of resolving not to complain, or be a better uncle, im going to make a few personal promises.

learn a new language..
though ive yet to master spanish, im going to take some japanese speaking classes. why not?

learn a new instrument..
either sax or guitar. im leaning toward guitar because i know for a fact its easier than saxophone..but should lack of difficulty count as a pro or a con?

immerse myself in piano..
this kinda goes under the last one..im going to take all music more seriously..starting tomorrow..

take a trip..
though i was planning to go to Europe...my wallet is saying no. so ive already arraged to go to new york with my brother during my spring break..thatll be epic.

i just want to add experience and interest to my character really. id love to be on a train to san fran and be able to talk about different japanese dialects with a stranger, or talk about the dichotomy of lower and upper manhattan at an airport with another traveller. all these things just add to one's self masterpiece.

google me beeech.

something like a rhapsodistic opus

im starting to believe that music has propensic elements...for most atleast

as of late, ive been having this insatiable desire for just arranged sound; if i say music most people visit this rock n roll or rap fantasy where the direction of the sound is obvious and predictable...thats not what im meaning.

a book that im reading right now, Musicophilia, by Oliver Sacks gives the accounts of different individuals who experience what he refers to as, musicophilia. in essence the sudden unquenchable thirst for music. not necessarily songs...but music. deliberate sound more or less

one particular story that ive read so far is especially interesting. this guy, at a park with family, goes to the pay phone to make a call ('94 no cell) and is struck by lightning. he has an out of body experience and to this day remembers everything vividly. he experiences memory failure for a few weeks but other than that hes seemingly fine. then several weeks after the incident he would wake up in the middle of the night with sounds in his head, not sounds he heard on the radio or anything, his own mind-made music. he had taken piano lessons as a kid but nomore than a few lessons to be sure. he teaches himself how to play just to get the sounds out of his head, all this at age 42. within a year, dude is composing his OWN classical music, on the piano.

strange.

bizarre.

deep. the possesive power that music has. i for one have music in my head virtually all day. be it a song i heard or if i hear an elevator ding, it will lead into song. i guess the almost scary part is, this guy who was an involed family man and accomplished surgeon then dedicated every free moment to music. his wife devorced him and he rarely spent time with his kids. he didnt even mind the aftermath. he saw it as a second chance at life to use music.

you have to admit this notion of music just appearing with such fervor is pretty dern intriguing. the book has alot of scientific hypotheses and offers explinations via natural science and brain activity. whatever. music seems more divine than scientific to me..

your average, late-night-boredom, post.

well..nothing extremely exciting happened to me today...

about 3 weeks ago me and chuck went sneaker hunting..found this on the street. i thought it was pretty sweet. im the asics, hes the retros.

so i had a pair of pippens. '91 pippens to be precise. but i sold them because i didnt see myself wearing them?!? what kind of sneaker junkie am i? whatever.

theyre niceee. the sole is nice and icy. and they just say "fresh prince" to me. theres an old rap vid of him and he's wearing some nike's that look almost dead like these. i think theyre just like some '90 flights tho...

i decided to put a picture of a some of my collection up. this pic is like 4 months old tho. and it doesnt contain a few pair that are just not for the world wide web. take a ganderrr

looking at this now...its about 5 or 6 months old...missing about 6 key pair. again, whatever. im really just typing because im bored. not good. i promise never to do this again. i hope those of you who dont care left or right about shoes arent shaking your heads at me. ill have something extravegant next time.

thanks for staying tuned

so ive been gone..
lots of school, lots of piano, lots of work, lots of stufff. but its allll good because im here now and thats what you all wanted. i guess the aspect of my life that has been the most dynamic has got to be the area of music. im totally and completely enammored with the piano and its consuming most of my time. as far as listening...its all in the jazz. David Benoit, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Dave Brubeck, Sonny Rollins, yadda yadda.

Shoes: ive made some moves. some crucial moves..like 250 dollar moves, but its all for the love of the game right? im thinking about camping out for the 11/12 Jordan Pack on the 26th of Dec. but then again, im thinking about not camping out for the 11/12 Jordan Pack on the 26th of Dec. ill have lots of pics soon.

Girls: agh. b*s is b*s as the old adage goes. ive dated a few. hung out late. done some not too pg things... but its like, what for? i was talking to my man carey the other day, we came to the concl. that for us atleast, its just about stimulation. im not really talking about sexual stimulation, but more intellectual. you dont have to be a soap box poet, or need to break down einstein's theory of relativity to me. just have something interesting and challenging to say.

so before i jet until the next episode (hopefully tomorrow) i want to add this, i argued with my friend about baracks up and coming presidency and how he appears to be standing against the lame duck, himself. lots of arguing and talking about policies and plans, ideals and theories, texas vs chicago...and i mean, i just want to say, this is who has led us the past 8 yrs:

eat summa dat justin.

laugh with me

people who know me know that i hate lebron james. i wont name the reasons here. i dont wana get into how gross his jumper is, or how its unfair that hes 6'9 1/2" 260lbs at age 24? or how he already has a chapionship appearance...i wont get into all that.
but i must now announce...
that i have love for him. all because of this commercial:

now that ive been exposed to that, my lady will and must act accordingly.
